Kristof Van Grysperre | ConductorConductor Kristof Van Grysperre held leadership responsibilities with the Long Beach Opera and conducted critically-acclaimed opera productions, including Frida (2017), Candide (2016), Hydrogen Jukebox (2015), An American Soldier’s Tale/ Fiddler’s Tale (2014), The Difficulty of Crossing a Field (2014) and the world premiere of Fallujah (2016), which was broadcast live on KCET. The documentary created around the making of Fallujah garnered an Emmy Award. He also made his New York City Opera debut as conductor of the opera.
Van Grysperre recently conducted The Consul (2017) at Chicago Opera Theater. He serves as artistic director for Angels Vocal Art in Pasadena, California, a platform dedicated to foster emerging vocal talent through education and performance.
Besides conducting at Long Beach Opera, Van Grysperre’s responsibilities were augmented by a role as artistic administrator and he was entrusted with researching works to be performed and securing rental agreements and licenses. He also maintained oversight of orchestra budgeting.
With a background of over sixty operas, in 2017, Kristof Van Grysperre lectured and presented an overview of Verdi’s Aida for the Pacific Symphony Opera Focus Group.
